Today sees the release of two new records featuring A Little Orchestra! The first is the Dark Ages EP, a two song collaboration between Plantagenet 3 and A Little Orchestra, with string arrangements written by Monster Bobby.

Plantagenet 3 are a London-based guitar duo who describe themselves as “post-surf”. We had so much fun recording these two songs with the band, and the record has already been described as “an inspired pairing and a great EP” by Louder than War. You can now buy a digital copy of the EP from Bandcamp.

The second release is Let Desire Guide Your Hand, the debut album from The Understudies. The Understudies, who are based in London, formed in 2008 and have previously released a single and EP on Odd Box Records. They have been described by God is in the TV zine as “Fragile and robust in equal measure in the grand tradition of British guitar bands like The Smiths, they stand out as unique in London’s indiepop music scene.”  Sweeping the Nation described their debut 7″ single as “romantic and heartaching while positive in a way only young Morrissey and fey Scotsmen can seemingly otherwise pull off“. Since forming they’ve played London Popfest, Indietracks, Glasgow Popfest and a host of shows across UK and Europe.

A Little Orchestra feature on four songs on the album, with all arrangements written by Andy Hudson. The album, released on Firestation Records, is available to buy digitally now from Bandcamp. Alternatively, you can buy a copy of the 12″ vinyl at their March 30 London show or order a copy from the Firestation website.

As well as performing with the band, we will be playing our own set, featuring very special guest appearances from Simon Love and Lisa Bouvier! Also playing will be Enderby’s Room, with Scared to Dance DJing. Doors open at 6pm (with an early finish) and tickets cost £4. Alternatively, you can pay £12 and collect a copy of the album on the door. Tickets are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/259901
